Recently, I came across an article that raised my eyebrow. More so, because it made me stop and give thought to what 'zone' I'm currently in. Today's post will share excerpts from the article that is titled "Comfort Zone or Fear Zone...Which is it, REALLY?" by Lola Barber. Ms. Barber challenges us to concentrate on our cognitive thoughts, feelings and actions, which place us either in a comfort zone or a fear zone. In the article Ms. Barber raises the flag to call a truce in hanging out, some may say hiding out, in the wrong zone in order to move your goals forward. Enjoy! ~ Yvon
"...ZONES! Zones, spaces, boxes, places...same thing right? Yeah well, have you looked around at your Comfort Zone lately? Is it really still all that comfortable? Or has it become a couple of other zones? Is it now your BROKE ZONE, YOUR OVERWEIGHT ZONE, YOUR ALONE ZONE?
Have you messed around and created the COMPLETE opposite of what you TRULY desire by allowing your fears, limiting beliefs, and lack of faith to muffle out what you deserve in order to keep what you THOUGHT you wanted?
Now that I have your attention...I want to make sure we shed light on the creator on this oxymoron of a life that we all have fallen into from time to time. Kinda like a silent scream, or friendly fire...THERE IS NO SUCH THING! Either it's one or the other. And your life is no different.
See excuses are what allow our life contradictions to exist. We say we wanna be rich...but we have poverty thinking and say NO to everything that we are exposed to to get us there. We say we wanna be fit and slim...but the "What would you do for a Klondike Bar" song is our motto and your single favorite thing to do is EAT stuff that even with exercise...will never allow you to shed a single pound. The excuses that we make and swear by that can put us and keep us from living our most vivid dreams.
You know, we've all heard them and some of us even let them slip out of our mouths. "I don't wanna get too small, because then if I get sick...I won't make it" or " You know people really don't need THAT much money to be happy...money don't make you happy" or the infamous sister anthem..."Girl...I don't even want no man, because I can do bad all by myself." Need I continue?
See all of those ridiculous beliefs, mantras and thoughts, stem from one thing and one thing only...FEAR = FORGETTING EVERY APPARENT REASON for changing. And the reason I say EVERY APPARENT REASON is simply because if we could remember every apparent reason why being broke is bad then we couldn't and wouldn't explain it away. We wouldn't make excuses for it...
Now let me say this, if you are TRULY AND ABSOLUTELY happy the way you are...THEN GOOD! I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to those of us who look around and discover that there is more in store...and desire to receive it. Change is not bad people...it just IS! In fact it is the only thing that is consistent and absolutely necessary for growth.
So...is the light shining bright enough yet for you? If so, what are you willing to do to get out of the hell you thought was your comfort zone before you started reading this note? And...don't be upset that it may not have dawned on you before now. Remember, as Dr. Wayne Dyer says; "When you change the way you look at things...The things you look at change!"
All we have to do is take a step towards doing a complete renovation on that Comfort Box...ooops I mean Zone. Knock down those walls and see what is out there waiting for you. You may just be astounded, amazed, and flat out flabergasted at the things you discover as a result of the NEW and beautiful light that comes flooding in as a result of the OLD walls, thoughts, behaviors, and actions being removed.
I bet what you will find out is that EVERYTHING WE'VE EVER WANTED...IS RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR COMFORT ZONE!"
